I know typically this series has been fashion and beauty focused, but with this new year, comes new changes. I felt very inspired to write about self-care. If you saw my Self-care Experiment from last year, then you know how important I think self-care is in order to remain balanced in life.
If you are anything like me, then taking a time out for yourself is so incredibly difficult. Sometimes I feel guilty taking time to do something that benefits only myself. However I have discovered that self-care while it does benefit me, it also benefits my entire family. I am a better wife and mother when I have a moment to take a break, pause, and do something that refuels me. Below are three other things I do to take a pause, re-center myself and keep a little balance in my life.
I’ve added some products that I use to help me do better self-care, all of which are $25 or less! A little disclosure here, I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links and the items posted below.
Creating the Spa at Home
I would love to go to the spa once a week; in reality I don’t have the time for it. My solution? I bring the spa to me. I love stepping into a silky, warm tub of water that has just been kissed by a fizzy bath bomb. I will lather on a facial mask and sit back as the aroma of lavender and citrus fills the air. I begin to feel my muscles relax and my mind letting go of the chaos of the day.
As a writer, I find reading to be relaxing. I love to fall deep into a fictional land where the heroin kicks ass and saves the village for eternal damnation. Ok I’m a totally nerd that likes science fiction and fantasy stories. I also like non-fiction. I enjoy learning about other’s view points and ways to improve myself.
Reflect With a Favorite Drink
For me, sitting down and relishing over a cup of coffee puts me in a state of zen. I like to sit somewhere quiet, in a big comfy chair and sip on my coffee and think about all the adventures that lay ahead. I also think about how I can be a better wife, mother and writer etc., but I try to block that out as much as possible. Just be in the moment and relax.
I hope you can do more self-care this year. Remember you deserve it.
