As you can imagine, we had a ton of boxes left over from our move in June. I couldn’t bring myself to break down all the boxes and take them to a recycle place, so Thomas and I filled a small area of our basement with our moving boxes. I didn’t know how or what I was going to use these boxes for, but I did know the boys would have fun playing with them.
One thing my boys have fun with is painting. I’m on the fence of course because while it is fun, it’s a big old mess. Painting is kinda like playdough. Anyway, I had this idea to grab various items from the dollar store and let Liam and Jaxson have fun painting the boxes. I got a few sponges in different sizes, a dishwasher tool, cleaning brush, etc. While I was strolling the isles of “dollarland” I came across kid aprons and thought, “These are perfect for painting activities.” I didn’t have to worry about the boys getting paint on their clothes when they wore these cute little aprons. Mama win for sure!
We had so much fun trying the items and seeing what kinds of patterns we could make with the paint. The sponges made an awesome brick pattern. The dishwasher tool made a beautiful flower type design. We painted three boxes and left them out to dry overnight. The boys were so excited to see them in the morning and check if the paint was still dry or if it was all dry.
I had so much fun with this activity I may have to do it again this weekend.
