What to Wear With an Ugly Sweater to Make It Chic

written by Katie McMinn December 8, 2017

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m all for a good laugh. I was shopping, oddly enough this summer and came across this wonderful ugly sweater at an audition house blow-out sale. Now I love the idea of wearing an ugly sweater, and what I love even more is creating a contradicting look that includes a Christmas chic-ness with an ugly kinda vibe.

Here are my three looks that will keep you looking chic in that ugly sweater. A little disclosure here, I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links and the items posted below.

Ugly Sweater Chic Look #1 The Pencil Skirt

I swear you can add a pencil skirt to anything and you have an instant higher score on the chic-ness meter. The key to a pencil skirt is finding one that is comfortable. My best hints to finding comfort in a pencil skirt are stretch and lightweight fabric. Keep those in mind as you are shopping. If you’re looking for a great one right now look no further. I’ve got my recommendations below.

Ugly Sweater Chic Look #2 The Over the Knee Boots

In my opinion, over the knee boots always make jeans look more chic. Much like the pencil skirt, having this added touch of sophistication balances out the corky-ness of the ugly sweater. The boots are more on the dressy side so I feel like you can wear a beanie and still look chic. Best thing about his looks is after a few glasses of champagne you’ll stay warm when someone dares you to sled down the neighboring hillside.

Ugly Sweater Chic Look #3 The Ripped Jeans and Festive Heels

I know what you’re asking. How can ripped jeans and an ugly sweater look chic? A good start is to wear your favorite pair of ripped jeans with a beautiful pair of festive heals. The key to this look is wearing your hair in an up-do. I added this silver feather to my bun up-do to add some sparkle and needed sophistication.

If you go for the ugly sweater thing this year, I want to see your pics. DM me on Facebook or Instagram .
